Grant Lake

Location: At the north end of the June Lake Loop, a few miles from HWY 395's northern access to the "Loop".

Getting There:

Camping/Lodging:  Campground at lake by limited service marina.  OK if you want to waterski, etc, but there are MUCH prettier campgrounds at the other June Loop lakes, which may be preferable if they have space available.

Put-In/Take-Out:

Good Points:  No speed limit, so great for skiboats, PWC, etc.

Not-as-Good Points: No speed limit, so great for skiboats, PWC, etc.  For paddling, you will be competing with fast boats in the area.  Not a terribly attractive lake, when others (that are magnificent), are nearby.

Lake Size:

Not a lake really worth paddling, given the beauty of the other lakes nearby.  Grant looks more like it belongs on the valley floor, in a desert like setting.  That said, this is the largest lake in the June Lake Loop, and the only lake that allows waterskiing, and has no speed limit for boats.  The greater fetch of this lake means afternoons, when breezes and fast boat wakes combine, can get rough for the casual paddle.   Rocky shoreline.
