Located just to the east of Pollock Pines (about 10 miles up US 50 from
Placerville), this lake and it's facilities are clean, with lots of camping
areas and other activities. No doubt in summer this place is packed, but
when we visited in April, there was little traffic. HIgh speed powerboats
are allowed in the lower lake, slower speeds in the upper lake. Day use
was $10, plus $3 for each hand-launched kayak - perhaps a tad pricey, but the
vault toilets, facilities, etc were quite clean.
At the top end of the lake is Sly Creek. Go up the creek as far as you
can, then walk to the footbridge. Just about 1 minute walk inland from the
footbridge is the waterfall. Very pretty, despite the fact it is not a
"real" waterfall, but rather man made.

This waterfall is actually very man made! Feeds into Sly Creek from a pipe system leading from a higher lake.
