Tioga Pass Lakes

On these pages we are featuring a number of lakes in the vincinity of Tioga Pass (the Eastern side of Yosemite National Park).  It is worth noting that the lakes on this page have a very limited season, and are generally reachable by car from mid-June through October, before Tioga Pass Road is closed by snow.  The exception is Saddlebag Lake, which has even a shorter season, due to altitude.

  • Tenaya Lake - Located near Tuolumne Meadows on the eastern side of the park.  A beautiful alpine lake to paddle, largest of the ones listed on this page.  Accessed from alongside Hwy 120.
  • Tioga Lake - Located just to the east of the Tioga Pass entrance to the park.  Also features a campground that is wonderful.
  • Saddlebag Lake - Located 2 miles off of Hwy 120, this is the highest lake reachable by road in California at over 10,000 ft.
  • Ellery Lake - Located a slight distance down from Tioga along Hwy 120.  Great paddling in wonderful surroundings.
